STINGIN' & SWINGIN - The King Bees' third release
is their strongest offering yet. The songwriting of Penny Zamagni has matured over the years,
gaining an impressive depth along the way. "Stumblin' From The Hide Away" showcases Baskerville's
guitar as he fuses two Freddy King classics into one incendiary tribute. The Bees' rendition
of Jerry McCain's "Things Ain't Right" shines behind the composer's harmonica riffs. Neal
Patman joins the Bees for a down-home cover of John Lee Hooker's "Dimples". Phil 'Mr Lucky'
Stinson's growling organ work and driving barrelhouse 88's take the party to a fevered pitch.
A fine bluesman and vocalist in his own right, he's a longtime King Bee colleague who spices
and thickens the gumbo.
BOOGIE BUZZ - The first CD on Tramp Records; it
introduced The King Bees to a blues-hungry European audience. Long time mentors Jerry
McCain and Chicago Bob Nelson add the soulful and vintage-toned harp that they are famous
for. Nine out twelve cuts are orginal...check out the Queen Bee Zamagni/Jerry McCain
collaboration "He's Tough".
"Excellent...Queen Bee Zamagni has a strong, slinky, swinging voice used to good effect on every number...Fine straight blues all the way...tasty."
Norman Darwin in England's BLUES AND RHYTHM
"Zamagni is a first class blues singer, one of the best I've heard...She is a singing/ song writing/playing componant any blues band would kill to have on board."
Martin Fullington, OUT AND ABOUT, Asheville, NC
"...has its place with the Fabulous Thunderbird's first album...Both Clapton's FROM THE CRADLE and The King Bees' BOOGIE BUZZ are rich with that unmistakable authentic blues magic."
Alan Mouer, CHARLOTTE'S BEST
"Hot guitar work from Rob "Hound Dog" Baskerville and the sassy vocals of Penny "Queen Bee" Zamagni are highlights...vintage, lean and mean."
Kenneth Johnson, CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
POLLENATIN' - Zamagni has dug deep to come up
with ten of some of the most creative originals going today: deep blues, New Orleans'
rhythms, Chicago style shuffles, rockabilly. The band shows their prodigious verstaility
in a banquet of American Roots Music. Bursting with guests from the cream of Southern
blues: Jerry McCain, Chicago Bob Nelson, Roy Roberts and Neal Pattman; the sidemen alone
are worth the price of admission. Once again Phil 'Mr Lucky' Stinson adds his growling
organ work and driving barrelhouse 88's. Twelve dynamite cuts!
"Excellent traditional blues group. POLLENATIN' is an awesome bonanza of Chicago and Louisiana-soaked originals, easily the band's most assured, satisfying effort yet."
Kenneth Johnson, CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
"This band is better than 90% of the bands whose CD's I receive every week."
Wayne Winkler, Station Manager WETS FM, Host of BLUE MONDAY
"Certainly some good numbers...excellent electric and stand up bass work...she'd make a great rockabilly singer...Baskerville's ferocious and stinging guitar licks are a delight throughout."
Byron Foulger, BLUES AND RHYTHM
